Plastic Tubing
Plastic tubing of various lengths and bores constructed of materials suitable for general laboratory, biopharmaceutical, food and beverage, medical, vacuum, low-pressure, high-pressure, cleanroom or environmental applications. Products may be chemical- or corrosion-resistant. Formulated for resistance to flex fatigue and abrasion, plastic tubing is more flexible and less permeable than rubber tubing.
How Is Plastic Tubing Used?
Flexible plastic tubing may be used as transfer lines for contamination fluid control, hydraulics, protective jacketing, vacuum pump and diaphragm pump feeds and discharges, refrigeration, water and fluid lines, food and beverage, instrumentation, research laboratories, agriculture, material handling, air and gas lines, chemical lines and pharmaceuticals.
Types of Plastic Tubing:
• PVC: lightweight and flexible, will retain its bore on bending and can be sterilized up to 121°C
• Silicone: ideal where a hard-wearing material is needed, including transfer of liquids or higher temperature environments
• LDPE: good for general low pressure and temperature, instrumentation, corrosive atmosphere, and food processing
• PTFE: has excellent chemical-resistant and temperature-resistant properties
• PE: flexible, lightweight, durable, and corrosion resistant, used for a wide range of liquid, gas, and fluid transfer applications
• FEP: clear, small-diameter tubing, the economical choice for chemical resistance and broad temperature exposure
• PEEK: high-performance polymer with mechanical and chemical resistance, and highly resistant to thermal degradation

Applications: General-purpose lab uses requiring high performance and long life. Characteristics: Exceptional tensile and tear strength, good biocompatibility, excellent chemical resistance, low gas permeability, and a smooth surface. Opaque white. Certification: Resin meets USP Class VI requirements. Tubing is manufactured according to GMP. Temperature range: -50 to 275¿F (-45 to 135¿C) Sterilize: With autoclave, ethylene oxide, or gamma irradiation.
AVANTOR MASTERFLEX (VWR LLC) Masterflex Transfer Tubing, C-Flex, Clear, 3/16"" ID x 7/16"" OD; 25 ft
Applications: Pharmaceutical, biotech, and general-purpose lab uses requiring high performance. Economical alternative to platinum silicone. Characteristics: Exceptional tensile and tear strength, good biocompatibility, excellent chemical resistance, low gas permeability, and a smooth surface. Transparent. Certification: Product is manufactured in accordance with Part 820 Quality System Requirements (GMP); and meets USP Class VI. Temperature range: -40 to 275¿F (-40 to 135¿C) Sterilize: Autoclave, ethylene oxide, or gamma irradiation.
AVANTOR MASTERFLEX (VWR LLC) Masterflex Transfer Tubing, PFA, 5/8"" ID x 3/4"" OD; 25 ft
Applications: Demanding lab, chemical, electrical, mechanical, pharmaceutical, and automotive applications. For the transfer of high-temperature or highly corrosive materials. Also good for high-purity work. Characteristics: Chemically inert, nontoxic, and virtually nonporous. Excellent crack- and stress-resistance. Low coefficient of friction. Translucent. Resin certification: Resin is FDA-compliant (21 CFR 177.1550); meets USP Class VI requirements. Tubing is manufactured according to GMP. Temperature range: -320 to 500¿F (-195 to 260¿C) Sterilize: Autoclave, ethylene oxide, or use dry heat.

Designed for the most demanding biopharmaceutical applications, the thermoplastic SEBS (styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene) tubing exhibits superior gas barrier properties and excellent pressure performance. Use the tubing in peristaltic pumps, single-use assemblies, process filling, and sampling devices.
Thermoplastic (SEBS) tubing does not contain BPA, phthalates, PVC, or peroxides that can leach out into the fluid, making it ideal for pharmaceutical applications, buffer and media preparation, and cell media processing. For an added level of particle control, a liner is placed between the tubing package and the box.

Altafluor 200 FEP offers excellent clarity which makes it ideal for sight glass/flow monitoring applications. Certified to NSF 51, NSF 61 and NSF 372. It has superior electrical insulation properties and is available in coiled hose and convoluted tubing constructions. Additionally, the outstanding UV transmission rate of FEP makes it a clear choice for UV transmission applications. Altafluor 200 tubing may be used with flare or conventional fittings.
